New Delhi, April 29 (). One person was killed and four others injured in a clash between two groups of teenagers in Delhi’s Zakir Nagar area.
An official said on Saturday that there was a dispute between two groups over the girlfriend of a youth involved in the incident.
According to the police, on Friday, PCR at Jamia Nagar police station received information about a fight in Zakir Nagar area.
On reaching the spot, the police found that there was a scuffle between two groups of boys, a senior police officer said. Several boys had sustained knife injuries and were taken to Holy Family Hospital for treatment.
The police then reached the hospital and received the MLCs of the injured boys including Mohd. Shayan was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Four other boys, all residents of Zakir Nagar, were later shifted to AIIMS for further medical treatment, the official said. During investigation it was revealed that the quarrel started over the girlfriend of one of the boys – Aamir (name changed). Amir suspected that his girlfriend was talking to another boy, due to which he threatened the latter with dire consequences.
On the day of the accident, both the parties had called a meeting at Gali No. 6 at around 9 pm to resolve the issue.
Aamir arrived with more than 12 of his friends, the officer said. Minutes after the meeting, one of the boys allegedly attacked Sheyen and four other boys with a knife, following which all the accused fled the spot.
Based on the statement of one of the injured boys, a case has been registered at the Jamia Nagar police station, the officer said. CCTV footage of the area is being scanned.
