New Delhi, April 21 (). A Delhi Police head constable and a constable have been suspended for allegedly running a sextortion racket with the help of a girl who used to trap boys through a dating app.
A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the accused policemen, who have been identified as constable Ankit posted at Nihal Vihar police station and head constable Mukesh posted at PCR unit.
They had taken a room on rent, where the girl used to bring the victim boy and later extorted money from him.
A source said that on April 17, they received a PCR call regarding extortion by two policemen. After receiving the call, a team was sent to record the testimony of the victim, a resident of Gurugram.
The victim was terrified, the source said. He was with three of his friends. He told the police that he had met a girl through the dating app Bumble. Both were in contact for a week. The girl took him to a room where he was extorted Rs 27,000.
According to the police report accessed by , the girl called Pandey to meet her at Peera Garhi crossing on April 16. The girl later took him to her room in Nihal Vihar’s Shivram Park in an e-rickshaw, which was allegedly hired.
The accused policemen reached there (the room), the source said. He told the boy that he had received a PCR call that he had done something wrong with the girl. The victim was threatened that strict action would be taken against him.
The accused policemen took Rs 27,000 from the victim. The report states that they also threatened the boy not to tell anyone about the incident, else they would implicate him in a false rape case.
The inquiry also revealed that both the policemen were in touch with the girl involved in the case.
