New Delhi, April 3 (). A total of 28 foreign nationals living illegally in the national capital have been deported back to their respective countries in the last month. The police gave this information on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M. Harsh Vardhan said a police team was tasked to identify foreign nationals who were living illegally in the city and involved in drug smuggling.
The team had identified at least 28 foreign nationals who were living illegally in Delhi, following which all were apprehended.
They were found to have overstayed in India without valid visas, the DCP said. He was produced before the Foreigners Registration Office, which ordered his deportation. He was sent to the detention centre. So far this year, a total of 82 foreign nationals have been detained and deported. It is also to be noted that a total of 437 foreign nationals were sent for deportation in 2022.
