Gurugram, 20 April (). In a bid to crack down on organized crime and dismantle the criminal network in the district, Gurugram police launched a combing operation in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police said the search operation was carried out at the residences of relatives and close associates of the notorious gangsters.
According to the police, action was taken at 19 different places including Khod village, Jat Shahpur, Basunda, Goriyawas, Khandevla, Tirpadi, Bohra Khurd, Tajnagar, Shakti Park Sector-10, Nakhdola and Basai of Pataudi.
Around 550 police personnel led by DCP Crime, DCP West, 7 ACP and 9 SHOs were involved in the search operation.
The main objective of the operation, in which over 550 policemen, including DCP-rank officers, were involved, was to destroy organized crime in the district and dismantle the network of criminals.
A total of 67 mobile phones, two tablets, 13 SIM cards, four Wi-Fi dongles, seven registry certificates, land papers, two SUVs, one tractor, four two-wheelers, two knives, one pistol magazine and Rs 2,97,822 were recovered during the raids. During the cash has been recovered.
The police have also arrested five people, who have been identified as Sumit alias Babua, Sandeep Tirapadi, Naveen, Hemant alias Hemu and a woman.
Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (Crime) said that Naveen was wanted in around a dozen cases of murder, kidnapping, dacoity, extortion etc. while Hemant was also involved in around half a dozen serious cases. The main objective of this operation was to eliminate organized crime and dismantle the network. Such campaigns will continue in future also to crack down on criminals.
