Saran: The vote counting for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections commenced at 8am, creating an unparalleled excitement in the Chhapra constituency. This seat has emerged as one of the most prominent battlegrounds due to Bhojpuri film star Khesari Lal Yadav running as the RJD candidate. The contest has sparked significant public interest, raising questions about whether his celebrity status will translate into votes. According to preliminary figures from the Election Commission, the results currently do not favor Khesari Lal Yadav. BJP candidate Chhoti Kumari has established a formidable lead in the early counting, having received 3,301 votes compared to Khesari Lal Yadav’s 2,327 votes, placing him 974 votes behind at this point.
The data indicates that Chhoti Kumari has maintained the lead right from the outset. Other candidates vying for the Chhapra seat include Shak Naushad from the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) in third place with 184 votes, and Jai Prakash Singh from the Jan Suraj Party in fourth with 158 votes. Several independent candidates and regional players are also participating, but none have yet made a notable impression. While early trends suggest that the NDA may once again secure the government in Bihar, the final results remain uncertain. Some key constituencies are being led by the Grand Alliance, while others show an NDA advantage. In Chhapra, the dynamics may shift as the counting progresses.
For now, the pressing question is whether the voters of Chhapra will opt for a well-known film star entering politics or maintain their support for the BJP candidate.
