The Bollywood Music Project, a highly anticipated annual musical festival, was recently held with great flair. This event features numerous esteemed singers and musicians, and this year was no different. Alongside notable artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Farhan Akhtar, Shaan, Ehsaan, Anu Malik, and Salim–Sulaiman Merchant, singer Abhijeet Sawant added his unique touch to the festivities. His heartfelt performance and timeless songs made this year’s festival particularly special. Since his remarkable journey began on Indian Idol, Abhijeet has continued to captivate audiences, and this performance was a testament to that. He showcased a variety of songs from his two-decade career, including both Hindi and Marathi tracks that highlighted his enduring hits.
The audience was treated to favorites like ‘Mohabbatein Lutaunga’ as well as the classic Marathi tune ‘Sar Sukhachi Shravani.’ By including a Marathi song in his set, Abhijeet not only entertained but also resonated with non-Marathi listeners, demonstrating that music knows no boundaries. Reflecting on his experience, Abhijeet remarked, ‘This stage is truly huge—audiences here include everyone from kids to youth, all listening and watching us with great enthusiasm. Performing songs they love is not just our duty, but also a way to give them a nostalgic experience. Even though this is the Bollywood Music Project, I felt it was important to include a Marathi song for my fans.
It was amazing to see even non-Marathi people responding so warmly to Sar Sukhachi Shravani. It proves that art has no language.’ Although today’s youth often gravitate towards hip-hop and remixes, events like this allow them to reconnect with original, timeless songs, which brings him joy. The presence of a Marathi artist on stage with such legendary musicians is a moment of pride for the Marathi community. As Abhijeet Sawant celebrates 20 years in the music industry, he continues to delight fans with his versatile performances, remaining faithful to his roots while adapting to contemporary trends.
