Balakrishnan stated that Adobe aims to reduce barriers to creativity, enabling individuals who previously lacked technical means to express themselves. When asked about the rise of accessible creative tools that allow anyone to produce professional-looking AI-generated content, potentially diminishing the value of traditional skills, he emphasized that this phase of generative AI represents a net benefit, contributing to the long-term democratization of creativity. He highlighted that while everyone has a story to share, opportunities to bring those stories to life have been limited until now.
“We’re making it easier for everyone to create content, but the expectations of what audiences will engage with will continue to rise,” Balakrishnan explained to The Times of India Tech during the Adobe Max 2025 event in Los Angeles. Adobe also introduced a new AI Assistant for Adobe Express, enabling users to edit and design projects using conversational commands instead of mastering a complex design interface. Users can simply instruct the Adobe Express AI Assistant on their desired actions, such as altering colors or layouts, or removing backgrounds. This innovation aims to transform the creative workflow by eliminating the steep learning curve associated with traditional design software.
It is designed to understand context and semantics, allowing it to respond to abstract or subjective quality prompts, such as “remove the background” or “give this image a tropical tone,” executing appropriate design changes.
