New Delhi, April 21 (). An Air India pilot is under investigation for violating safety norms by allowing a friend into the cockpit during a Dubai-Delhi flight on February 27.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed the development and said that the probe team will verify the relevant facts.
The pilot allegedly entertained a lady friend in the cockpit, which violates DGCA safety norms.
A senior DGCA official said the act is unacceptable and could put the safety of passengers at risk.
Air India has issued a statement saying that they have taken note of the reported incident and an investigation is underway.
The airline has a zero-tolerance policy regarding passenger safety and well-being and will take requisite action. The matter has also been reported to DGCA and Air India is cooperating with their investigation.
“We have taken the reported incident very seriously and an investigation is underway at Air India,” the statement said. We have also reported the matter to DGCA and are cooperating with their investigation. We will have a zero tolerance attitude towards issues relating to the safety and well-being of our passengers and we will take the necessary action.
The violation has raised concerns about the need to ensure strict compliance of flight safety and security norms.
DGCA emphasized the importance of following safety protocols and taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of passengers.
Any violation of safety norms will be dealt with strictly and strict action will be taken against the guilty party, said a DGCA official.
