Amazon Introduces Flexible Shopping Feature for Prime Members

Amazon has launched a new feature aimed at enhancing online shopping flexibility for Prime members. Named “Add to Delivery,” this tool allows customers to incorporate eligible products into an order that has already been completed, provided it has not yet shipped. The update is currently accessible to users in the US through the Amazon Shopping app and the mobile version of Amazon.com. Previously, shoppers who forgot to add an item had to place a new order for delivery. With Add to Delivery, Amazon streamlines this process, enabling users to add last-minute items to their pending deliveries with just one tap.

“The aim is to empower customers to address immediate shopping requirements without waiting for their next order or making a separate purchase,” Amazon stated. The feature was initially introduced to a limited group of Prime members for testing and is now being rolled out to a broader audience. It can be utilized for deliveries scheduled for later the same day or the following day, subject to availability. Eligible items fall into specific categories including electronics, clothing, books, and groceries. Products that can be added to a scheduled delivery feature a blue “Add to Delivery” button beneath the typical yellow “Add to Cart” option.

Users also have the option to quickly remove an item if added by mistake, thanks to an undo button. Notably, including items in an already scheduled delivery incurs no additional shipping fees, though users must maintain an active Amazon Prime membership to access this feature. In the US, the Prime membership costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually. For many regular online shoppers, overlooking an item in an order is a frequent annoyance. By permitting last-minute additions, Add to Delivery ensures that customers receive everything they need in one shipment, thus saving both time and effort.

While this feature is currently limited to the US, there is no information yet on when Amazon plans to expand this convenience to other countries like India, where busy shoppers could significantly benefit from such flexibility. With this launch, Amazon continues to enhance the shopping experience to better reflect real-world shopping habits, addressing everyday consumer challenges.
