Bengaluru, May 1 (). Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold several roadshows in Bengaluru on Monday as part of the campaign for the May 10 Karnataka assembly elections, where the BJP is on the backfoot.
The BJP aims to contest the BTM Layout, Jayanagar and Vijayanagar constituencies in Bengaluru that are currently held by powerful Congress candidates.
The BTM Layout seat is held by senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy. His daughter Soumya Reddy is the MLA from Jayanagar. Earlier this seat was occupied by BJP. Former minister and one of the richest candidates M. Krishnappa is contesting from Vijayanagar seat from Congress.
From Govindraj Nagar seat, BJP has given ticket to new face Umesh Shetty in place of senior leader V. Somanna. Congress leader Krishnappa’s son Priyakrishna is the Congress candidate here.
Amit Shah’s roadshows have been carefully planned to promote BJP candidates and ensure victory.
Shah will take part in the roadshow from Audugodi signal to Total Mall at Madiwala in BTM Layout assembly constituency from 4.50 pm to 5.50 pm. He will hold a roadshow from 5.50 pm to 6.40 pm from East End Main Road in Jaynagar assembly constituency to Shalini Maidan in Jaynagar.
Road shows are also organized from Basaveshwar Nagar police station to Nagarbhavi circle. The program will help in boosting the enthusiasm of party workers and reaching out to voters in Govindarajnagar and Vijayanagar constituencies. The roadshow will take place between 7 pm to 7.50 pm.
Bangalore city has 28 assembly seats and BJP is in a good position. The party is facing tough competition from the Congress due to anti-incumbency and infrastructure collapse in Bengaluru during the rainy season.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi did a mega roadshow in Bengaluru on Saturday and the event was attended by a huge crowd. PM Modi and Amit Shah are working hard to win the Karnataka elections.
Party leaders are seeking votes in the name of PM Modi. In an effort to reach out to the voters in the state, PM Modi said that he would deputate the entire New Delhi to ensure the development of the state.
