Helsinki, May 11 (). Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin is preparing to step down after being defeated in the general election. Meanwhile, her husband Markus Raikkonen has filed for divorce after three years of marriage.
The couple married in 2020 while the Marines were dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and they have a five-year-old daughter, reports BBC.
In a story post on her Instagram account, the Marine said: We are grateful for being together and for our sweet daughter.
Marine said he is still good friends with Raikkonen, who is a businessman and former professional footballer.
We will continue to spend time together as a family and with each other, he said.
Marin, 37, became the world’s youngest prime minister when she took office in 2019.
According to the BBC report, she lost in a tough fight in the election held in April.
Although his party’s seats increased and won 19.9 percent of the vote, all of his coalition partners got fewer seats.
Her government has formally resigned, but she will continue in office until a new government is formed.
