Five Apple Devices That Won't Launch at the September Event

Apple is preparing for its highly anticipated September keynote, set for September 9 at 10:30 PM IST. Titled “Awe Dropping,” the event will feature the much-awaited iPhone 17 lineup. However, not all devices fans are eager to see will be presented. While the focus will be on the iPhones, several expected products are either delayed or reserved for future events. Despite the excitement, five key devices are not expected to be revealed this time. The first is the iPhone 17 Plus, which Apple introduced with the iPhone 14 series, but reports indicate the company may be phasing it out. It is anticipated that the new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air will take its place in the updated lineup.

Next, the iPhone 17e is set to skip this event, following the earlier launch of the iPhone 16e as a budget-friendly option, with a debut expected in early 2026. The M5 MacBook, known for its powerful performance, is also unlikely to be announced on September 9, disappointing enthusiasts hoping for the M5 chip. Similarly, the M5 iPad Pro, which boasts laptop-level performance with Apple’s M-series chips, is another highly anticipated upgrade that won’t be present at the event, although it may be released by the end of 2025. Lastly, both the iPad Air and iPad 12, which are affordable options in Apple’s iPad lineup, will also be absent this year, likely saved for early 2026.

Apple’s product strategy has evolved, with the company opting to stagger launches across multiple events rather than unveiling everything at once. This approach allows each category—iPhones, Macs, or iPads—to receive focused media coverage. Consequently, this September is dedicated solely to the iPhone 17 series and the Apple Watch. While the absence of these devices may disappoint some, Apple has exciting offerings planned. The Apple Watch Series 11 is anticipated to launch alongside the iPhone 17, featuring the new S11 chip and an enhanced display. Additionally, the Watch Ultra 3 and an updated Watch SE are expected.

The AirPods Pro 3 could also be introduced soon after the event, featuring an upgraded case, improved Active Noise Cancellation, and potentially in-ear heart rate monitoring. There are also rumors of a HomePod Mini 2 being unveiled, although details remain unconfirmed. Although the September 9 event won’t showcase all of Apple’s products, it paves the way for several launches in 2026. The iPhone 17 series will capture most of the attention, while fans of MacBooks, iPads, and the iPad Mini will have to wait a bit longer.
