Apple is preparing for a significant product update this week. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the company intends to launch new versions of the iPad Pro, Vision Pro headset, and 14-inch MacBook Pro, all featuring the latest M5 chip. Unlike its traditional large launch events, Apple is expected to announce these products quietly through online releases and brief promotional videos. With a holiday on Monday in the US and Canada, the announcements could occur later this week, coinciding with favorable timing for Indian audiences. The iPad Pro M5 appears to be the highlight of the launch. Recent unboxing videos from Russia have surfaced, revealing important details ahead of the official launch.
The new tablet is anticipated to include the M5 processor with a minimum of 12GB of RAM as standard. While the design remains largely unchanged, one significant alteration is the removal of the ‘iPad Pro’ branding from the back. Performance-wise, early benchmarks suggest a 12% increase in multi-core CPU speed and a 36% enhancement in graphics compared to the M4 model. Although there were previous speculations about a dual front-camera for enhanced video calls, leaked prototypes show a single front camera, leaving some ambiguity regarding the final design. The Vision Pro 2 headset is also set for an upgrade.
Gurman indicates that this updated model will utilize the same M5 chip found in the new iPad Pro, as opposed to the previously anticipated M4. The new iteration may also feature a new Dual Knit Band for greater comfort and a Space Black color option. However, regulatory filings suggest that the device will continue to use Wi-Fi 6, bypassing newer standards like Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. It remains unclear whether Apple will label this version as the ‘Vision Pro 2’ or consider it a minor upgrade, especially since reports indicate that development on a more budget-friendly ‘Vision Air’ model has been halted in favor of future smart glasses.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro is also slated to receive the M5 upgrade this week. Gurman’s newsletter mentions that the laptop is ‘ready for launch’, while high-performance variants equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected in 2026. The new MacBook Pro will retain its familiar design, as Apple is reportedly saving major design changes—such as OLED displays, touchscreen integration, and built-in 5G—for future generations expected to utilize M6 chips fabricated on TSMC’s 2nm process. Looking ahead, Apple has an extensive roadmap of new devices in development. Anticipated updates include new AirTags, Apple TV, and HomePod mini, along with refreshed versions of the entry-level iPad, iPad Air, MacBook Air, and the upcoming iPhone 17e.
For the moment, all attention is on Apple’s newsroom as fans eagerly await official announcements regarding these M5-powered devices, signaling a significant advancement in Apple’s silicon progression.
