Apple Launches Enhanced MagSafe Charger Supporting 25W Wireless Charging

Apple has officially unveiled an upgraded version of its MagSafe Charger, allowing for quicker wireless charging across a wider range of devices. The latest model now complies with the Qi2.2 standard, permitting compatible smartphones, including non-Apple models like the Google Pixel 10, to charge at 25W. Previously, Apple introduced 25W charging with the iPhone 16 series using its MagSafe puck, but older iPhones and third-party devices were restricted to slower 15W speeds. With the introduction of the iPhone 17 series—which includes the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max—the new MagSafe accessory fully adopts Qi2.2 compatibility, enhancing its versatility for everyday users.

This charger, which first emerged last year through Taiwan’s National Communications Commission website, is now available for purchase on Apple’s online store. It includes a 1-meter USB-C cable priced at $39 or a 2-meter option for $49. Apple’s early implementation of 25W wireless charging with the iPhone 16 came before the official launch of the Qi2.2 specification earlier this year. Once iOS 26 is released, most iPhone 16 models will also support faster 25W charging on any Qi2.2-certified charger. However, there is one exception: users who choose the upcoming iPhone Air will still be limited to 20W for wireless charging.

This enhancement highlights Apple’s dedication to advancing charging standards while aligning with the industry’s broader acceptance of Qi2.2, ensuring improved compatibility across devices.
