Al Ain (UAE): Young Indian racing talent Atiqa Mir dominated a male-heavy field to become the first female winner in the minimax category of the RMC UAE Karting Championship. At just 10 years old, she took the lead on lap four and maintained a significant advantage, finishing over four seconds ahead at the Al Ain Raceway on Sunday. The 15-driver grid featured competitors from eight different nationalities. With her impressive performance, the F1 Academy-supported driver made a memorable debut for her team Akcel GP. Atiqa overcame challenges from her third-place starting position to secure victory in a competitive race. She executed a crucial inside maneuver to seize the lead and maintained her speed despite challenging windy conditions.
This triumph followed a tough previous weekend where Atiqa sustained a hand injury but still achieved a top-10 finish in the UAE IAME series. “That felt good. It was tough for the first four laps. I was being pushed around but I fought hard and held on. I got a run on the back straight and went for the overtake for the lead,” reflected the racer from Jammu and Kashmir.
