Bihar 2025 Exit Polls Indicate Strong NDA Lead; Yadav Disputes Findings

Exit poll results for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections indicate a significant victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), spearheaded by the BJP and JD(U), with forecasts suggesting the alliance could secure between 130 and 209 seats, surpassing the majority threshold of 122 in the 243-member assembly. The opposition Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD in coalition with the Congress and Left parties, is projected to secure between 70 and 102 seats. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, once anticipated to be a significant contender, is expected to have minimal influence, with estimates ranging from 0 to 5 seats.

These exit poll predictions were released following the completion of the second and final voting phase, which saw a historic voter turnout of 66.91%, the highest recorded in Bihar’s electoral history. While the NDA celebrates these trends, the Mahagathbandhan has rejected the results, labeling them as politically motivated. Tejashwi Yadav claimed the polls were conducted under the influence of BJP leadership and expressed confidence that his alliance would achieve a definitive win when official results are announced on November 14. Leaders from JD(U) and BJP credited their anticipated success to Nitish Kumar’s developmental initiatives and an increased turnout of women voters, who participated at 71.6% compared to 62.8% of men.

Despite previous exit poll inaccuracies—such as in 2020 when many predicted a Mahagathbandhan victory—the current forecasts indicate the NDA is likely to maintain its power in Bihar. The final results will be revealed on November 14 amid strict security measures across all 38 districts in the state.
