Bihar Faces Intensifying Cold Wave as Temperatures Decrease

Patna: Winter has firmly established itself in Bihar, with both daytime and nighttime temperatures continuously declining across the state. The Meteorological Department has predicted dry weather for the next five days, though light fog is expected to linger during the mornings and evenings. Over the last 24 hours, Gaya reported the lowest minimum temperature at 10 degrees Celsius, while Patna noted 16.5 degrees Celsius. Officials indicated that minimum temperatures are anticipated to decrease further in the upcoming days, heightening the chill in various districts. Morning fog has already begun to envelop numerous areas in Bihar, impairing visibility at dawn.

According to the Meteorological Centre, a drop of an additional 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is expected starting Tuesday, contributing to colder conditions in the mornings and evenings. Weather specialists attribute the ongoing decrease in nighttime temperatures to clear skies and the lack of a Western Disturbance over North India. A gentle yet persistent cold wind from the north is also aiding the temperature drop. However, the department specified that severe cold conditions have not yet developed in most areas of the state.

Seemanchal and Mithila Prepare for Severe Cold The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for districts within the Seemanchal and Mithila regions—Katihar, Purnia, Araria, Khagaria, and Kishanganj—where severe cold conditions are expected during early morning hours. Strong, cold winds are likely to exacerbate the chill, with minimum temperatures continuing their steady decline. Patna May Experience 2-Degree Temperature Decrease The capital city is currently under generally dry weather conditions. Minimum temperatures in Patna are fluctuating between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius but are projected to drop by about 2 degrees in the coming days. While severe cold conditions are not predicted for Patna at this time, the winter chill is gradually becoming more pronounced.

Meteorologists forecast that cold conditions will intensify across Bihar in the last week of November, marking the onset of a more severe winter phase.
