Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Live Vote Counting Updates

Kishanganj: The vote counting for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 commenced at 8 a.m. today across all four constituencies in Kishanganj district—Kishanganj, Bahadurganj, Thakurganj, and Kochadhaman. Each constituency has set up fourteen counting tables, and the entire process is being overseen by a comprehensive CCTV network spanning from the strong room to the counting hall. A stringent three-tier security protocol has been implemented around the counting center. Access is restricted within 100 meters of the premises, and public entry is prohibited within a 200-meter radius. Seating arrangements for candidates and their authorized representatives have been established outside the strong room. Police have set up barricades at three points along the access road as part of the security measures.

The district has a total of 1,125,959 registered voters, comprising 600,253 men, 525,670 women, and 36 third-gender voters. Notably, 26,359 first-time voters aged 18 and 19 participated in this election. All four constituencies experienced competitive contests. In the Kishanganj seat, BJP’s Sweety Singh competed against Congress candidate Mohammad Kamarul Hoda. Bahadurganj featured a battle between Congress’s Prof. Musabbir Alam and Jan Suraaj candidate Varun Singh. The race in Kochadhaman was between RJD’s Master Mujahid Alam and AIMIM’s Sarwar Alam. In Thakurganj, JD(U)’s Gopal Kumar Agarwal faced RJD’s Saud Asrar Nadvi. A total of 97 counting rounds will determine the results in the district, with Kishanganj counted in 24 rounds, Thakurganj in 25, Bahadurganj in 18, and Kochadhaman in 21 rounds.

The counting is taking place at the Market Committee Complex (Marketing Yard), starting at 8 a.m. Enhanced security measures at the strong room include 24-hour monitoring of EVMs and VVPATs. A platoon of Central Paramilitary Forces is stationed at the inner perimeter, while district police and additional security personnel manage the outer layers. The CCTV feeds are monitored continuously from the district administration control room. District Election Officer Vishal Raj stated that all preparations are complete, and the administration is dedicated to ensuring a peaceful and transparent counting process. He emphasized that security arrangements have been bolstered, and every activity within the counting center is under constant surveillance.
