Historic Bihar Elections 2025 Achieve Unprecedented Milestones

Patna: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the successful execution of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, achieving a remarkable voter turnout of 67.13% — the highest since 1951 — and recording zero repolls or disputes throughout the state. As per the Commission’s statement, the two-phase polling occurred without incident, with no repolls requested by any of the 2,616 candidates or 12 recognized political parties. The ECI also confirmed that no appeals were filed during the Summary Revision of the Electoral Roll, which included 7.45 crore registered voters across 38 districts. Counting arrangements have been established in all 243 assembly constituencies.

Each constituency will feature a Returning Officer, Counting Observer, and teams comprising supervisors, assistants, and micro-observers at 4,372 counting tables. More than 18,000 counting agents appointed by candidates will oversee the process. The vote counting will commence at 8 a.m. on November 14, starting with postal ballots, followed by Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at 8:30 a.m. The Commission has mandated cross-verification between EVM records and Form 17C entries, along with VVPAT slip counting in the event of discrepancies. After EVM counting concludes, a random verification of VVPAT slips from five polling stations per constituency will be undertaken to ensure complete transparency. Final results will be published round-wise and constituency-wise on the ECI’s official results portal — https://results.eci.gov.in.

The Commission has urged the public and media to rely solely on official updates to prevent misinformation. “The successful completion of the Bihar elections with zero repolls is a testament to the Commission’s commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections,” the ECI stated in its release.
