Patna, April 20 (). A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly threatening State Environment and Forest Minister Tej Pratap Yadav in Bihar’s Aurangabad. Police gave this information.
However, the accused Sunil Kumar Mandal claimed innocence, posing as an RJD supporter and had only contacted the minister over phone and requested him to withdraw the FIR lodged against six people from the district.
Tej Pratap Yadav owns a bike showroom-cum-service center at Kam Bigha More, Aurangabad.
Six persons had gone to the service center on April 17 and had an altercation with the staff over some issue and were allegedly involved in vandalizing the establishment.
Seeing the loss, Ajay Yadvendu, the caretaker of the service center, lodged two FIRs against those people and Mandal in the city police station.
According to the first FIR, Vikas Kumar had come to get his bike serviced and had an altercation with the staff. Soon he called some of his friends and they pelted stones at the showroom and damaged property.
SHO of Town Police Station S.B. We have registered an FIR for creating ruckus and damaging showroom properties and threatening Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, Sharan said. Sunil Kumar Mandal had called up Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday and threatened to withdraw the FIR against the alleged youths. We arrested Sunil Kumar Mandal on Wednesday and produced him before the duty magistrate, who sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
After the court hearing, Mandal told local media persons that he had called up the minister and requested him to withdraw the case against the six youths.
Mandal said, after the incident at the service centre, the accused youth came to my house and requested me to speak to Tej Pratap Yadav. So, I contacted them on 17th April and requested, but they accused me of threatening them. I do not have the capacity to threaten a powerful minister of state.
He said that his family is a supporter of RJD and I am only paying the price for requesting them.
