Bihar Excels at National Agriculture Awards with Two Major Honors

Bhagalpur: Bihar has once more showcased its agricultural prowess on a national level. During the 21st Foundation Day event of the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) in New Delhi, the state achieved two notable national awards. The Plant Genome Saviour Community Award (2022–23) was awarded to the Mithilanchal Makhana Producers’ Association, while progressive farmer Nakul Singh from Rohtas received the Plant Genome Saviour Farmer Award for his outstanding work on the Kheermohan paddy variety. BAU Sabour Vice-Chancellor Dr. D.R. Singh expressed pride in this accomplishment, stating that the recognition highlights the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability within Bihar’s agricultural community.

He described the achievements of Mithilanchal Makhana Producers and Nakul Singh as “an inspiration for all progressive farmers.” Association President Binita Devi credited the award to “the tireless efforts of our farmers,” and Nakul Singh conveyed his sincere appreciation to BAU Sabour for their support, calling it “a proud moment for Bihar’s farming community.”
