Patna, April 17 (). Hours after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced compensation for the victims of the spurious liquor tragedy, Bihar BJP president Samrat Chowdhary criticized him for not holding an all-party meeting to discuss the deaths due to liquor.
He said, Nitish Kumar is now implementing his Paltimar approach in laws. He has become ill and he should resign from the post of Chief Minister.
Chaudhary said, Nitish Kumar had given a statement in the House that he would call an all-party meeting to apprise the leaders about the deaths due to spurious liquor. But he did not call the meeting and decided the compensation on his own. They have nothing to do with democracy. He was known as Paltu Kumar in the past and has again carried out the Paltimar scheme without regard for the laws.
The BJP leader said, according to official figures, 37 people lost their lives in the East Champaran spurious liquor tragedy, but the state government has only taken action against lower level officials. DGP, Home Secretary and Chief Secretary are guilty of liquor tragedy, so action should be taken against them also. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is also the home minister of the state, so he will have to resign from the post.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said, the JDU-RJD-led grand alliance government is responsible for the deaths due to spurious liquor in Bihar. The way a large number of people have died due to spurious liquor in East Champaran can be attributed to the arrogance and callous face of the government.
Nitish Kumar on Monday announced that an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh would be given to all the family members of the victims who lost their lives in spurious liquor cases since prohibition was implemented in April 2016.
