Chennai, April 24 (). Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai has criticized the state government’s move to allow liquor in commercial places like sports stadiums and banquet halls.
The BJP president said in a statement on Monday that the DMK, in its election manifesto, had promised to shut down liquor shops in the state in a systematic manner. He criticized the DMK government for amending the rule to allow serving of liquor in banquet halls, marriage halls and sports grounds.
Annamalai said that law and order in Tamil Nadu has already become a challenge for the public. We strongly condemn DMK’s continued involvement in activities causing social disorder to increase the income of liquor factories run by the party.
The Tamil Nadu BJP leader demanded the government to immediately withdraw the order on serving liquor at weddings, banquet halls and sports grounds.
It may be noted that the Tamil Nadu government has amended the Liquor Rules to allow the serving of liquor in convention halls, convention centres, marriage halls, sports stadiums and domestic functions, offering licences.
