Patna: The Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has suspended former Ara MP Raj Kumar Singh, accusing him of actions that breach party discipline and damage the organization. A formal show-cause notice was issued on 15 November, requiring Singh to provide an explanation within a week as to why he should not be expelled from the party. The letter, signed by Arvind Sharma, State Headquarters In-charge, indicates that Singh’s conduct is deemed to be outside the scope of party discipline and has been taken very seriously by the organization. The notice further states that his behavior has caused harm to the party. Following directives from the state leadership, the BJP has suspended Singh and commenced the disciplinary process.
The former MP must clarify his stance within seven days of receiving the notice. The Suspension Triggered by Allegations The suspension follows Singh’s explosive assertion that the Bihar government orchestrated a Rs. 62,000-crore power procurement scam by endorsing an inflated agreement that purportedly benefitted the Adani Group. Singh, who previously served as Union power minister, contended that electricity that should have been priced at Rs. 2.75 per unit was instead acquired at Rs.
4.16, labeling it “a fraud on the people of Bihar.” He also raised concerns regarding the land allocation for the project, claiming it was granted at significantly below market rates with the involvement of “influential ministers and senior officials.” Singh insisted that only a central agency could reveal the truth and called for a CBI inquiry, framing the alleged irregularities as a violation of public trust and a significant governance failure.
