Kolkata, May 30 (). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that the Trinamool Congress’ decision to contest assembly elections in states like Tripura, Goa and Meghalaya was unnecessarily being made an issue by the Congress.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that Trinamool has poached Congress leaders in states like Goa, Meghalaya, Tripura and West Bengal to join its party. Along with this, Ramesh said that she is making the cause of BJP successful. Responding to this, Mamta Banerjee said that this is not an issue. His party did not contest elections in many other states where Congress is strong like, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan.
Sometimes, a party needs to contest elections in several states to get the status of a national party and improve its vote share, Mamata told mediapersons here. Will Congress and BJP continue as national parties? Injustice has already been done to the Trinamool Congress. We had national party status till 2024 but the Election Commission has taken it away.
Commenting on the protesting wrestlers’ decision to throw their medals into the holy Ganges in Haridwar, he said his solidarity was with the wrestlers.
“I cannot even think of such ill-treatment and assault on those who have brought laurels and laurels to the country,” she said. Even women wrestlers were not spared.
The Chief Minister said that his government would make 1.25 lakh new recruitments in various departments in the next one year. The recruitment would be in all departments like education, police and health, he said.
However, the opposition BJP and CPI(M) have claimed that the Chief Minister’s announcement will never materialise.
