Consumer Electronics Growth Accelerates in Telangana Before Amazon Festival

As the Amazon Great Indian Festival (AGIF) 2025 approaches, Amazon India is witnessing a marked shift towards premiumization and technological upgrades throughout Telangana. Consumers in Hyderabad and the surrounding areas are increasingly opting for smartphones, smart TVs, wearables, and appliances equipped with advanced features and specifications, making consumer electronics a leading category on Amazon.in. This trend is evident across various categories including smartphones, consumer electronics, home and kitchen, fashion, and grocery. To accommodate the anticipated festive demand, Amazon has established a strong operational network in Telangana, featuring three fulfillment centers, over 500 delivery stations, and approximately 1,500 I Have Space (IHS) stores.

The platform continues to support over 57,000 sellers from the region, including 18,000 local shops offering a diverse range of products from mobile phones to home furnishings. The premium tech adoption is not limited to urban centers; smartphone demand has seen double-digit growth in Telangana, with Hyderabad at the forefront of the premium segment (priced at ₹30,000 and above). Additionally, there has been a 45% rise in home entertainment sales, particularly in the QLED/OLED categories, as customers invest in 55-inch smart TVs featuring AI and 4K capabilities.

The wearables market has also thrived, with premium segments (priced over ₹10,000) growing by 50% and mid-premium categories (₹4,000-7,000) seeing a 60% increase, highlighting the strong consumer interest in health tracking features such as ECG and blood pressure monitoring. Tablets experienced a 23% overall growth, with the premium segment (priced above ₹25,000) leading at 45%. This wave of premiumization extends to tier II cities like Karimnagar, Warangal, and Nalgonda, indicating a significant shift in consumer preferences throughout Telangana, where advanced specifications and superior performance are prioritized over basic functionality. Zeba Khan, Director of Consumer Electronics at Amazon India, commented, “Customers in Telangana are driving premiumization across all categories—from ₹30K+ smartphones to QLED TVs and health-focused wearables.

They are purchasing not just gadgets, but investing in features and specifications that enhance their daily lives. This trend signifies not only an increase in purchasing power but also a shift in lifestyle aspirations where technology plays a pivotal role in enriching everyday experiences. During this Amazon Great Indian Festival, customers can anticipate not only exceptional deals across a vast selection but also swift and reliable deliveries throughout India.” To enhance the festive shopping experience, Amazon.in will incorporate a variety of new generative AI capabilities. With Rufus AI, Amazon’s AI-driven shopping assistant, customers can access product comparisons, quick answers, price histories, summary videos, personalized recommendations, and more.

The new Lens AI feature allows customers to take a photo of an item—be it a friend’s outfit, a social media find, or a local store product—and find it instantly on Amazon.in. AI Review Highlights will help users quickly grasp essential points from thousands of reviews. The Quick Learn and Buying Guides will simplify complex specifications in categories such as laptops and appliances, making shopping decisions easier and more stress-free. Kishore Thota, Director of Shopping Experience at Amazon India, stated, “We are thrilled to enhance customer convenience this festive season with our innovative AI features like Rufus AI, Lens AI, AI Review Highlights, and Buying Guides.

With customers drawing inspiration from influencers and content creators, we’ve developed a Creator Program to assist in informed purchases. This year, over 100,000 creators will participate in the Amazon Influencer Program to help customers discover deals. Additionally, we will host over 2,000 live streams from more than 900 trusted creators on Amazon Live, where customers can engage with creators and get answers to their product inquiries in real time. This Great Indian Festival is set to be an excellent shopping opportunity for customers.” To meet the growing demand during the festive season, Amazon has announced a significant expansion of its operational network, unveiling 12 new fulfillment centers (FCs), six new sort centers (SCs), and 45 new delivery stations across India.

In Telangana, Amazon operates three fulfillment centers that facilitate faster service for regional sellers and create hundreds of local job opportunities. The company has built a comprehensive fulfillment and logistics network comprising over 500 delivery stations that ensure quick and reliable deliveries across the state. Furthermore, Amazon operates more than 28,000 I Have Stores (IHS) and nearly 2,000 owned and partner delivery stations throughout India. The Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025, the company’s largest shopping event of the year, will begin on September 23, offering 24-hour early access exclusively for Prime members.

Customers can look forward to significant discounts across smartphones, electronics, fashion, and home essentials, including up to 40% off on Apple and Samsung smartphones, 80% off on electronics, and 50-80% off on fashion and beauty brands. Throughout the event, customers can expect new product launches, AI-driven shopping features, and special offers from over one million sellers, including small businesses involved in Amazon Launchpad, Local Shops, Karigar, and Saheli programs. Prime members will also enjoy the additional benefits of free and fast delivery, exclusive savings, entertainment perks, and more through Amazon Pay, which allows secure, seamless transactions with added cashback for Prime members.

Various Prime plans are available: Annual Prime at ₹1,499 (full benefits), Prime Lite at ₹799 (full shopping, limited video), or Prime Shopping Edition at ₹399 (shopping benefits only). The festive season is not only significant for consumers but also for businesses and corporations. Amazon Business, a B2B marketplace on Amazon.in, enables organizations to streamline their procurement processes while spreading festive joy among employees and partners. From bulk purchases to corporate gifts, Amazon Business offers technology-driven solutions tailored for institutional buyers—ranging from hospitals and schools to manufacturers, government bodies, and NGOs—ensuring attractive pricing and a convenient, transparent shopping experience.
