Patna, April 20 (). Five members of Naxalite group CPI (Maoist) were killed in the encounter. Angered by the death of their comrades, the group has called for a 48-hour bandh from Thursday in Naxal-dominated areas of Bihar-Jharkhand.
The outfit claimed that a fake encounter had taken place in Chatra district on 3 April. In the encounter, five Maoists Gautam Paswan, Amar Kumar, Nanu, Sanjit Kumar and Ajit Kumar were killed by the security forces.
He accused the security forces of conspiring against the operatives and killing them. According to media reports, in view of this many districts like Gaya, Aurangabad, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Nawada, Jehanabad, Arwal, Rohtas, Kaimur and other districts have been put on high alert.
The Naxalites have threatened the villagers of dire consequences for not following the bandh.
Manoj Ram, SDPO of Naxal-dominated Imamganj district, said, “We are keeping a watch on Naxal groups and have asked villagers to be vigilant.” We are following the orders of senior officers and coordinating with paramilitary forces.
Earlier, Naxalite groups had called for a bandh on 14 and 15 April.
