New Delhi, May 4 (). Amidst allegations of drunken policemen and use of force on wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi DCP Pranav Tayal has refuted these claims.

After this late night incident, there was a heated argument between the police and the wrestlers. As per reports, the wrestlers have leveled allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Saran Singh. The wrestlers have been staging a sit-in at Jantar Mantar since April 23, demanding his arrest as well as his removal from the WFI post.

According to the DCP, five policemen were injured during the scuffle late on Wednesday, while the wrestlers alleged that they were beaten up by the police and some of the protesters suffered head injuries.

The DCP tweeted on Thursday, writing that adequate number of women officers were on duty during the night. None of the policemen were found intoxicated in the medical examination. Five policemen received injuries during the scuffle. The police did not use any force against the protesters. One injured protester left hospital without medical advice and has yet to give a statement to the police.

According to media reports, two wrestlers, Rahul Yadav and Dushyant Phogat were allegedly injured during the incident, with Phogat suffering head injuries.

The DCP said that as a precautionary measure, barricades have been erected at various places across Delhi to prevent any further incidents.

On Wednesday night, Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda and DCW president Swati Maliwal were taken into custody by the police when they reached the spot to extend support to the wrestlers.
