New Delhi, April 3 (). Taking cognizance of repeated incidents of sexual harassment of girls during college fests, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Monday launched an inquiry into the matter.
As part of the probe, officials from the Delhi Police and Delhi University were summoned with details of guidelines drawn up to prevent such cases in future.
The summons were issued to the Registrar of Delhi University and Joint Commissioner of Police (SPUWAC) of Delhi Police on Monday morning.
Last week, the commission had issued notices to the Delhi Police and the principal of IP College following reports of sexual harassment of girl students during a college fest. It said that some boys entered the college during the fest and harassed the girls.
DCW said in the notice, you are summoned to appear before the Commission on 6 April 2023 at 2 pm. If you fail to comply with this order without valid reason, you will be subject to action.
The commission has also asked the police about the number of policemen to be deployed, the deployment of PCR outside the college premises during the fest and the reasons for not being able to prevent such incidents in Delhi colleges.
Also, Delhi University has been asked to submit a copy of the inquiry report conducted by the university on the incidents that took place at Gargi College, Miranda House and Indraprastha Women’s College.
The details of the action taken by the university for the security lapse in the college administration have also been sought.
