New Delhi, March 31 (). A fire broke out in a house in Delhi’s Shastri Park on Friday. Six people including a child died due to suffocation in this accident. An official of the fire department gave this information.
According to a senior police officer, the police control room at Shastri Park police station received a call at around 9 am that a house near Machi market on Mazar Wale Road in Shastri Park was on fire.
A police team reached the spot, the officer said. The injured were admitted to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital.
According to preliminary reports, six people, including four men, a woman and a child, died of burns and suffocation.
Two people, including a 15-year-old girl, are undergoing treatment, the official said.
The officer said that preliminary investigation has revealed that a burning mosquito coil fell on the mattress during the night, due to which the fire started.
People fainted due to the toxic fumes and later died of suffocation, the official said. Further investigation is on.
