Delhi Government Initiates Audit to Improve Run-Down Schools

New Delhi: The Delhi government has commenced an audit to locate schools in poor condition and enhance their facilities, according to a source from the Education department. The audit began earlier this month with a school in Narela, which was in disrepair with damaged ceilings, water leakage, broken desks, and unsanitary washrooms, the source revealed. “We have instructed officials, by district, to start compiling data on such schools that are deteriorating and lack essential infrastructure,” the source stated. On March 24, during an Assembly session, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood informed the Assembly that an action report would be developed regarding the declining condition of schools in the national capital.

Arvinder Singh Lovely, a five-time MLA from Gandhi Nagar, pointed out the poor state of a school on Brahmapuri Main Road and mentioned that several schools in the Trans-Yamuna area were similarly affected, urging the minister to provide information on these schools. BJP MLA Kulwant Rana also highlighted a school in disrepair in Saheb Haderi.
