The former spouse of Dr Shaheen Shahid Ansari, who was recently apprehended in relation to an alleged international terror network identified by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has asserted that she ended all communication with the family following their split over ten years ago. According to sources, Dr Jafar Hayat — an ophthalmologist working at a government facility in Kanpur — mentioned that he and Shaheen were wed in 2006 and finalized their divorce in 2013 by mutual agreement. Since that time, he stated that Shaheen has not reached out nor visited him or their two sons, who reside with him.
Police officials reported that Dr Shaheen and her brother were taken into custody for inquiries regarding the suspected terror module. Investigators have also questioned their father and older brother to gain insight into the siblings’ activities and affiliations. This case is part of a broader investigation into a larger network that authorities suspect extends across several states and may have global connections.
