Guwahati, May 1 (). Man-elephant conflict continues in Assam with wild elephants wreaking havoc in the state in two separate incidents in which one person has died. Officials gave this information on Monday.
According to locals, a man was crushed to death by an elephant near his house in Guabari area of Tamulpur district. The deceased has been identified as Rajen Pradhan.
A senior district police officer said Pradhan was rushed to a nearby hospital as soon as locals came to know that he was injured in the elephant attack. However, the doctors declared him brought dead.
The body has been handed over to the family after the post-mortem.
In a separate incident, two wild elephants entered the residential neighborhood of Lanka in Nagaon district after coming out of the forest area in search of food, causing havoc in the neighbourhood.
The wild elephants also destroyed several residential buildings.
