New Delhi, April 15 (). A Delhi court has fixed April 24 for Saturday to consider whether to take cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate’s second supplementary charge sheet against Raghav Magunta, Rajesh Joshi, Gautam Malhotra and five companies in the excise policy scam.
Rouse Avenue Court’s Special Judge M.K. Nagpal, Special Public Prosecutor Naveen Kumar Matta said that the investigation is on to ascertain the role of the accused and other persons named in the ECIR in various allegations.
The ED’s 2,000-page charge sheet contains statements of witnesses and accused persons as well as e-mails and other data. Though the probe agency is yet to chargesheet AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, it has submitted before the court that Sisodia had planted fabricated e-mails to show that there was public acceptance for the policy.
During the last hearing, the probe agency had said that the 60 days given to complete the investigation against Sisodia have not yet expired. After this, the court adjourned the matter for further hearing on April 18.
The ED had on April 5 informed Special Judge Nagpal that it has found fresh evidence which points to Sisodia’s involvement in the alleged excise policy scam and the investigation is at a critical stage. The court had extended the custody of the AAP leader till April 17 in this case.
