Gurugram, June 2 (). The Cyber Crime Team of Gurugram Police has busted a fake International Call Center which was operating from Sector 67 area. Seven people have been arrested in this connection. It is alleged that they used to cheat foreign nationals in the name of technical assistance.
They mostly targeted foreign nationals in Australia and the US by sending fake emails posing as technical support representatives from PayPal, Amazon and Norton, an official said on Friday.
Those arrested have been identified as Mohd Zafar Iqbal (38), Noor Hussain (28), Sumit (32), Abhishek Mishra (30), Sheikh Ibrahim (28), Abhishek Gupta (35) and Mohd Adil (32). happened.
ACP (Cyber Crime) Vipin Ahlawat said, all the suspects have been arrested on charges framed under relevant sections of the IPC for illegally running a call center without any valid license.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to tell the victims that they have been wrongly charged for purchasing phones or other services and would help them return their money in exchange for $200 to $500 as service charges. do.
Suspects used to obtain bank accounts and credit card details of victims in order to defraud them after persuading them to install a remote access app such as (AnyDesk) on their computer systems.
During interrogation, it was revealed that all the accused are residents of West Bengal and all had graduation degree in different streams.
