Lakhimpur Kheri, May 30 (). A 50-year-old farmer was attacked and mauled to death by a tiger in the Belrayan range of Dudhwa buffer zone in Uttar Pradesh.
The farmer had gone to check his sugarcane crop on Sunday and since then he was reported missing.
Deputy Director of Dudhwa Buffer Zone Sundaresh said that on Monday evening the villagers recovered his half-eaten body from the neighboring forests.
He said evidence of tiger attack including tiger’s claw marks were found at the spot.
He said that the body has been sent for postmortem, further action is underway.
Sundaresh said forest teams have been deployed to keep a tab on the tiger’s movements, while villagers have been advised to be alert and work in groups if needed.
The villagers have also been asked not to venture into reserved forest areas where movement of wild animals is common, he added.
