Firozabad: Following an incident where Uttar Pradesh Minister Baby Rani Maurya was unharmed after her car was involved in a collision with a truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, an FIR has been filed naming officials from UPEIDA and the truck driver as accused, according to police reports on Monday. The accident took place on Thursday night in Firozabad district while the women and child welfare minister was en route from Hathras to Lucknow. Although the vehicle sustained damage, Maurya emerged uninjured. The complaint was lodged on Sunday at the Naseerpur police station by the minister’s public relations officer, Ashish Singh. The FIR includes UPEIDA officials and the truck driver as part of the accused.
Singh indicated in the complaint that repair work on the expressway had diverted traffic to the opposite lane, leading to two-way traffic on a single stretch. The truck ahead of the minister’s vehicle reportedly lost control due to a tyre burst, overturned, and skimmed past her car. The complaint further stated that the absence of reflectors on road barricades hampered visibility at night, and no UPEIDA representatives arrived at the scene post-accident. Singh sustained minor injuries, while the minister’s driver, Ramotar, effectively regained control of the vehicle, averting a potential disaster, police confirmed.
