New Delhi, May 29 (). Ahead of the crucial meeting with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday said the party high command will never give any post to any leader or worker to persuade him.
Talking to the media at the airport here after his arrival in the national capital, Gehlot was asked about various speculations about him and party leader Sachin Pilot, he said, never in my life have I come across such a tradition in the Congress. Haven’t seen that a leader asks for something or the high command asks him which post he wants.
He also rejected such reports and said that it is only the creation of the media and some leaders may be planting such news.
The high command and the Congress party are so strong that such a situation will never arise where someone is offered to persuade, he said. It never happened, it will never happen.., he said.
The meeting is taking place after Pilot’s ultimatum that he would launch a statewide agitation if his three demands were not met by the end of this month.
Pilot has also demanded a high-level inquiry into the alleged scams during the tenure of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje as one of his many demands.
The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) has been in deep internal turmoil since July 2020, when Pilot rebelled.
Pilot, who was the Deputy Chief Minister after the rebellion, was removed from the post. He was also removed from the post of State Congress President.
Since then, there has been a crisis within the party in the state.
According to party sources, Kharge will meet the two separately to understand their concerns.
The source, however, did not rule out the possibility of a joint meeting once the two leaders iron out their differences.
The meeting has been called by the Congress president after a pilot one-day hunger strike in Jaipur on April 11 to demand action against the previous BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje over allegations of corruption.
