Gurugram: Illegal hoardings on NH-248 will be removed soon

Gurugram, May 27 (). Several illegal advertisement hoardings on the six-lane Sohna-Alwar Elevated National Highway-248 will be removed soon. The officers provided this information.

Officials said these hoardings were put up without any prior permission from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The Central Government has banned hoardings along the highways as the roadside hoardings/advertisements are likely to distract the drivers.

Officials said the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, as a policy, is not allowing the installation of advertisement hoardings under the right of way on national highways, as it can distract the attention of drivers.

The Sohna elevated highway constructed on National Highway 248A between Rajiv Chowk-Sohna was opened for traffic last year to ease travel between Gurugram-Sohna and Alwar. The expressway also connects to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

After the opening of the Sohna Elevated National Highway to Dausa and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan, advertising companies have started putting up huge hoardings on both sides of the expressway.

They are using NHAI land along the highway. Accident warning sign boards, defaced information boards and government advertisements can be put up only with the permission of the NH authorities.

NHAI project director Dheeraj Singh said that hoardings along NH borders have been banned as they lead to accidents. We have not given permission to any advertising agency or individuals. The matter has come to our notice and we have directed our patrolling team to remove such illegal advertisement hoardings. We will take immediate action against those who violate the rules.
