Dehradun, April 19 (). Chardham Yatra is going to start from 22nd April in Uttarakhand. The Health Department has issued an advisory regarding the Chardham Yatra. In this, the Health Department has issued necessary guidelines for the devotees coming on Chardham Yatra.
The Health Department has asked the devotees to follow the Covid Appropriate Behavior. Along with this, Health Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar has also provided information regarding health facilities through a letter to all the district magistrates of Garhwal division.
Along with this, the health department has also talked about encouraging and making people aware for this. Along with this, the Health Secretary said that before starting the Chardham Yatra, get a medical checkup done. It has been said to keep essential medicines, small medical equipment with you during the journey.
All the pilgrimage centers in Chardham Yatra are located in the high Himalayan region, whose height is 2700 m above sea level. In those places, travelers can be affected by extreme cold, low humidity, excessive ultraviolet radiation, low air pressure, and low oxygen content. Therefore, the following guidelines are being issued for the smooth and safe journey of all the pilgrims.
Before traveling:
1- Planning, Preparing, Packing Focusing on prevention can help you stay safe during your travels. Please ensure medical and trek preparation before your trip. It is important to plan, prepare, and pack for the high altitude sickness can cause.
Make a plan :
1- Plan your trip for at least 7 days, allow time for acclimatization Plan for multiple breaks Take a break of 5-10 minutes, after every one hour on the track or every 2 hours of an automobile climb .
Preparation :
1-Practice breathing exercises for 5-10 minutes daily
2-Walk daily for 20-30 minutes
3-If the passenger is 55 years of age or suffering from heart disease, asthma, high blood pressure, or diabetes
4- Get a health check-up done to ensure fitness for travel
Packing:
1- Warm clothes: woolen sweater, dharms, puffer jacket, gloves, socks, rain gear, raincoat, umbrella.
2- Health checkup equipment pulse oximeter, thermometer for passengers with pre-existing conditions (heart disease, hypertension, asthma, diabetes).
3- Carry all necessary medicine, test equipments and contact number of your home doctor.
4- Please check the weather report before your trip and make sure you have enough warm clothes to manage in cold temperatures.
5- If your doctors advise against traveling, please do not travel

1-Healthy Vigilant Successful Travel See the communication placed by the Health Department along the travel route for your convenience, and follow all the guidelines carefully.
2- Refer to the map of the nearest medical unit planned to serve the passengers.

2- If you or any member of your family is feeling any of the below mentioned symptoms, please reach the nearest medical unit immediately. A quick diagnosis can save your life.
Contact the medical unit immediately:
Complaint of chest pain.
2-Shortness of breath (difficulty in talking).
Persistent cough Dizziness/ disorientation (difficulty in walking).
Vomiting.
5-Icy/cold skin.
Weakness/numbness on one side of the body.
7-High altitude can cause serious diseases. One minute of care can save your life.
8-Special care should be taken of these passengers.
Passengers aged 9-55 years.
10- Pregnant women Travelers with a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, and diabetes.
11-Extremely obese (BMI of 30)
12- Do not consume medicines, avoid smoking also.
13-Drink at least 2 liters of fluid during the journey and take nutritious food.
14- Alcohol, caffeinated drinks, sleeping pills and strong/strong pain relievers during travel
