Heavy rain likely to continue in Himachal

Shimla, May 31 (). Heavy rains with thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely to continue over the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh. An official of the Meteorological Department gave this information here on Wednesday.

Heavy rain with hailstorm is likely at many places in the state in Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Bilaspur, Una, Chamba, Hamirpur, Mandi and Kangra districts, the official told .

He said that the tourist towns of Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Kalpa, Kasauli, Chamba, Dharamshala, Palampur and Manali may receive moderate to heavy rains.

Light snowfall may occur in the higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Kullu and Kinnaur districts during the next 24 hours, the official said.

Himachal Pradesh receives an average of 61.2 mm of rainfall in May. The state had received 109.8 mm rainfall till May 30 this year, which is 79 per cent more than the average, the official said.
