Bengaluru, May 9 (). Heavy rain Monday disrupted public meetings and door-to-door campaigning of various political parties in the poll-bound capital of Karnataka in the afternoon and evening.
A house also collapsed due to the rain and several cars were damaged in the city. The incident of house collapse was reported from Veerabhadreswara Nagar near Outer Ring Road in Bengaluru South zone.
According to officials, the house of local resident Gopal has collapsed, destroying everything in the house. However, a major accident was avoided as no one was at home when the incident took place.
The wall of an apartment also collapsed and four cars parked there were damaged, he said.
Also, houses were waterlogged due to heavy rains in Pushpagiri Nagar of Hosakerehalli.
Sewage water entered houses in Dattatreyanagar, 12th Main Road of Girinagar and other areas. People have condemned the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials for not taking any action in this regard.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong wind uprooted trees at several places, affecting vehicular movement in Bapujinagar, Bank Colony, Shantinagar and Richmond Road areas.
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Bengaluru till May 13.
