HYBE, the global entertainment company behind BTS, SEVENTEEN, and KATSEYE, has officially launched its Indian subsidiary, HYBE India Entertainment Private Limited, with Mumbai chosen as its strategic hub. This initiative marks HYBE’s fifth international office, joining existing locations in the U.S., Japan, Latin America, and China. HYBE India aims to connect India’s dynamic regional music industry with the worldwide entertainment ecosystem. With the mission, ‘Where voices of India become global stories,’ the subsidiary is focused on discovering and nurturing Indian talent through localized auditions and artist training initiatives. Additionally, it will support and enhance the activities of current HYBE Music Group artists in India.
The company plans to utilize HYBE’s extensive experience in talent discovery, production, management, and marketing to bolster the presence of Indian artists in global markets. India presents a significant growth opportunity for HYBE, boasting around 185 million music-streaming users, making it one of the largest streaming markets in the world. The rising popularity of K-pop in India reflects a growing cross-cultural appreciation. Mumbai, recognized as the entertainment capital of India and the center of Bollywood, was selected as the base for HYBE India due to its established music infrastructure and cultural diversity. In the upcoming months, auditions and artist training programs will commence, focusing on local talent.
HYBE India will also manage the activities of HYBE’s global artists in India, fostering regional collaborations. This launch aligns with HYBE’s broader ‘multi-home, multi-genre’ strategy, which aims to incorporate regional cultural elements into its global growth approach, including in the U.S., Japan, Latin America, China, and now India.
