The woman is posted at AFMC, Lucknow Cantonment and has registered a case with the police.
According to the woman officer, she had searched for a groom on a matrimonial site, where she was introduced to Dr Amit Yadav, who claimed to be a foreign national.
In her complaint to the police, she said that the man promised to settle in India after marriage and emotionally blackmailed her into transferring money to his account on the pretext of buying land in India.
We started talking to each other and he promised to buy land in India, they said. Later he started threatening to commit suicide if I didn’t transfer the money and forced me to give Rs 23.5 lakh. He stopped talking to me after the money was transferred to his account.
The woman said that he threatened to kill her and end her career.
He said, I got his bank account frozen after complaining to the concerned authorities. When he came to know about it, he requested me to restore my bank account so that he can refund my money. When I did so on his request, he withdrew all the money and closed the account.
He said, I have complained about financial fraud in the cyber cell of Lucknow.
Cantonment’s ACP Abhinav said that the investigation is going on, the transfer money has been frozen by him.
