Karnataka CM announces implementation of five guarantees this year, dates also fixed

Bangalore, June 2 (). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday announced that all the five guarantees would be implemented within this financial year itself. He announced on which day which guarantee scheme would be implemented.

He said that the free bus travel scheme for women would be implemented from June 11. Free electricity will be given up to 200 units from July. Two thousand rupees will be given to the female head from August and 10 kg rice free of cost to all the members of BPL card holders from July 1.

Addressing a press conference after a three-hour cabinet meeting, Siddaramaiah said all schemes for the people of Karnataka would be implemented without any discrimination of caste, religion and language.

The first guarantee – 200 units of free electricity – will be given to all people from July, Siddaramaiah said. People need not pay for the first 200 units of electricity used in the month of July. To avoid misuse, the average consumption of a year in the previous year will be added by applying 10 per cent. However, the dues will have to be paid, he said.

Siddaramaiah said, Rs 2,000 will be given to all women heads under the Griha Lakshmi scheme. This scheme will be launched on August 15, on the occasion of 76th Independence Day. Beneficiaries will have to submit online application with bank account and Aadhaar card details from June 15 and July 15 respectively. Applications will be processed from July 15 to August 15. The scheme will be launched on 15th August and it is for both APL and BPL card holders.

Annabhagya Yojana will be implemented from 1st July. 10 kg rice will be given free of cost to all members of BPL card holders. The scheme has also been extended to Antyodaya card holders.

Siddaramaiah said that women can travel free of cost in state-owned buses from June 11. They can travel free within the state in KSRTC and city buses. AC buses will not be included in this.

Under the Yuva Nidhi, an allowance of Rs 3000 and Rs 1500 to diploma holders will be given for 24 months, including graduates studying and passing professional courses in the academic year 2022-23. He said that applications would be invited from June 3. The scheme is implemented without discrimination of caste, religion and gender. This includes transgenders as well.

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said that it is a historic day and Congress has fulfilled its promises made to the people during the elections.
