Bengaluru, April 3 (). The JD(S) is likely to announce the second list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka on Monday and the internal family feud over ticket distribution is expected to end.
Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s daughter-in-law Bhavani Revanna Deve Gowda and her family are still adamant on getting the Hassan ticket. However, former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy is not ready to issue him a ticket. Bhavani Revanna is the sister-in-law of Kumaraswamy.
Deve Gowda held a meeting with family members on Sunday night and sources said the Hassan ticket issue still remains contentious. Bhavani Revanna walked out within the first 15 minutes of the meeting and did not respond to the media.
Sources reveal that both the parties are adamant on Haasan’s ticket. The JD(S) is also working seriously to field strong candidates in Arasikere constituency, where the party’s previous candidate Shivalinej Gowda is set to join the Congress party. JD(S) MLA from Arkalagudu A.T. Ramaswamy had joined the BJP.
The party is also preparing to contest the Mahalaxmi Layout seat held by BJP minister K. Gopalaiah. Gopalaiah, who won the 2018 elections on a JD(S) ticket and later joined the BJP.
Kumaraswamy had said that after the elections the national parties would have to come to his door pleading for an alliance. He had also said that the high command of the national parties is already in touch with him.
On the other hand, leaders of the national parties, the BJP and the Congress, have stopped short of scathing comments and scathing attacks on the JD(S) in the recent past. JD(S)’s internal surveys have indicated that the party has a good chance of winning 25 to 35 seats in the elections.
