The Jammu and Kashmir Police executed a significant operation throughout the Valley, raiding over 200 sites and detaining hundreds of people as part of an intensified effort against what officials refer to as a ‘terror support network.’ This coordinated initiative, which mainly targeted members and affiliates of the prohibited Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), extended across four police districts, including Kulgam in South Kashmir. An official announcement indicated that approximately 400 cordon-and-search operations have been conducted in the past four days, aimed at dismantling what police claim is a well-established system facilitating militant activities locally. Security has been increased in various regions following a recent explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which heightened national alert levels.

Officials mentioned that the raids focused on individuals believed to be providing logistical or financial assistance to terrorist organizations, with digital devices, documents, and other items confiscated during the searches. This operation is part of a larger initiative to curb militant financing and recruitment in the area. The Jamaat-e-Islami, which was outlawed in 2019 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) due to alleged connections with extremist factions, has frequently been a focal point of such security measures. Authorities have emphasized that these actions are vital for ensuring sustained peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
