On Thursday morning, a loud noise resembling an explosion was reported in Mahipalpur, located in southwest Delhi, causing panic among residents. Authorities later confirmed that the sound was merely the result of a bus tyre bursting. The incident occurred near the Radisson Hotel, prompting a call to the Delhi Fire Services at 9:19 am, which dispatched three fire engines to investigate. Upon inspection, no hazards were found. Police interviewed the caller, who reported hearing the sound while en route to Gurugram. Further inquiries revealed from a security guard that a DTC bus traveling towards Dhaula Kuan had suffered a rear tyre burst, resulting in the loud noise.
Police reassured the public that the situation was under control and there was no cause for concern. This incident comes as Delhi remains on high alert following a blast at the Red Fort on Monday, where a Hyundai i20 exploded, injuring 20 individuals and causing damage to several vehicles.
