On 14 April, state education minister Basu launched a scathing attack against the governor over his post-survey tour of various state universities.
Basu had told mediapersons that day, the way the Governor is roaming around like a white elephant in various universities is not realistic, fair or in accordance with the rules. We never showed any arrogance towards the new governor. We want to cooperate with them. But he is misusing his powers and going out of his limits again and again.
The minister also questioned the governor’s authority to sanction funds for universities.
Basu asked, the money announced by the governor would come from the state treasury. How can he make such an announcement without consulting the education department.
Earlier, the Trinamool Congress also did not take lightly the Governor’s decision to review the security arrangements for Hanuman Jayanti, with party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh targeting the Governor on the issue.
