A 46-year-old man has been detained for allegedly running over a woman with his vehicle near IP Estate in central Delhi, according to police reports on Wednesday. The woman’s identity is still being confirmed, and she was pronounced dead at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. The suspect, Khusipal Tomer, employed at an advertising agency, was traveling to his hometown in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, when the incident occurred. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan, the accident happened on October 25 around 2:30 PM when a white car struck the woman near the Yamuna Bridge and then fled the scene. Although police arrived promptly, they found no witnesses.
A case was filed, and an investigation was initiated. During the investigation, authorities traced a white car heading toward Sachivalaya Bhawan. CCTV footage from near Sachivalaya Gate captured the vehicle, though the license plate was not clearly visible. Subsequent inquiries led to the identification of the registration number, which was found to be registered to Tomer, a resident of Daryaganj, who had recently moved to the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) campus.
